Wireless and mobile communication, sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning and Blockchain would form the backbone to create pervasive and ubiquitous computing environments that would profoundly influence society and thus are important to the community. Wireless technologies such as IEEE standards and the Internet of Things (IoT) would encompass various domains such as hardware devices, topologies, MAC algorithms, routing algorithms, integration of heterogeneous network elements, energy efficiency and reliability, etc.
Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science that focuses on using data and algorithms to imitate how humans learn and gradually improve their accuracy. Machine learning is an essential skill for any aspiring data analyst, data scientist, and those who wish to transform a massive amount of raw data into trends and predictions. Many of today's leading companies, such as Facebook, Google, and Uber, make machine learning a central part of their operations. As a result, machine learning has become a significant competitive differentiator for many companies. In addition, the Internet of Things generates massive data from millions of connected devices. Machine learning algorithms learn patterns from past data to predict future behavior and events. Machine Learning can eliminate human errors and enable big data to generate real-time insights and allow Internet of Things devices to reach their full potential.
Blockchain stores data in a decentralized manner to secure and make the data immutable. It has various applications, such as storing and transferring crypto currencies, asset tracking, performing transactions, e-voting, and many more. Nowadays, Blockchain is helpful in IoT and machine learning also. Machine learning models use the data stored in the Blockchain network for prediction and analysis. Moreover, IoT devices integrate with Blockchain to make decentralized intelligent devices, smart homes, intelligent health care systems, etc. The proposed self-finance course will enable the participants to learn about wireless networks, IoT protocols, machine learning techniques, and Blockchain. Furthermore, in hands-on sessions, the participants will be involved in application development based on the technology explained in the lecture sessions.
I believe that this self-financed short-term course will be highly beneficial for the participants. This is a basic course where the participants can learn about Wireless networks, IoT, Machine Learning, and Blockchain. The course will be conducted virtually through Cisco Webex / Google Meet.
The prerequisite of the course is the knowledge of networking concepts and IoT.
The following topics will be covered in this short term course:
a. Wireless LANs IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.
b. Introduction of the Internet of Things.
c. Protocols for IoT: Bluetooth and Bluetooth Smart, IEEE 802.15.4 WPAN, ZigBee.
d. Low Power WAN Protocols for IoT (IEEE 802.11ah and LoRaWAN).
e. Networking Layer for Internet of Things: 6LoWPAN and RPL.
f. IoT Communication Protocols MQTT, CoAP, UDP, TCP, etc.
g. Basics of Machine Learning.
